Christmas Message
19 December 2011, 8:14 pm
As we reach the half way stage of the season 3 of our teams in with a chance of honours at the end of the the season.
Leading the way are the Under 13s who are top of their division. The Under 12 Colts lie 4th as do the Under 16 Colts. We wish them well and fingers crossed and good luck to the rest of teams in the second half of the season.
A reminder to all of the respect code of conduct. We have already had 2 serious incidents this year that have involved in referees getting abused, one was with an opposition team and unfortunately one incident involved parents amongst one of out teams. Once these are reported to the League the teams involved WILL be punished and regardless of mitigating circumstances that team will be fined and the team will be responsible for paying the fine not the club.
Remember if you have nothing postive to say then keep quiet.
Finally the Executive would like to wish everyone
A Merry Christmas and a Successful New Year

Charter Standard -The Next Stage
17 November 2011, 6:41 pm
As a lot of you are aware Chapeltown Athletic has been around for over 25 years and run under the club ethos of giving everyone a fair chance regardless of ability.
We achieved Charter Standard in 2003 but the Executive now believe it is time to take the club to the next level and become a Charter Development Club. There are a lot of things involved in getting this but we are not far off. One of the ways we intend to move on to get to this stage is by giving extra coaching to the players.
We have a Level 2 qualified coach who has already started extra training sessions to try to develop players a bit further. All teams were invited to extra coaching sessions on top of their normal training. We had a good take up on this and it has gone down well, with most players and managers agreeing it is well worth it.
We have also sent some of our Goalkeepers on specialist coaching sessions with England Ladies Goalkeeper Leanne Hall. Again this was well received with most goalkeepers stopping for extra sessions and all agreeing it has broadened their knowledge. Originally the club believed this would be aimed at a certain age group but the feed back is even the youngest age groups will benefit so when the next sessions happen we will be inviting these to attend.
The next stage of Craigs plan is to take individual groups of players from certain age groups and again give them extra training to develop them even more. We hope to encompass all players but obviously this will take time so please be patient.

Wander round whilst your Children visit Santa.
The cost to see Father Christmas and get a "pick your own" gift will be £2.50 per child
This event is to raise awareness and bring the community centre to the people of Chapeltown/High Green/Burncross, and to try to fill it every day by hiring it out to anyone who needs a reasonably priced venue for local activities. To that effect, the whole aim of the Christmas Fayre is to publicise the centre, and this first attempt at this event is not being done as a money raiser, more an awareness raiser!!
Suggested groups are such as a craft afternoon, or an over-50's style club. Most evenings they already have booked, but would like to increase bookings (either on a permanent basis, or for one-off usage). There is a new floor in the centre, ideal for holding dancing, so could be used for barn dances, line dancing, children's parties, silver weddings, etc., and there is a good sized kitchen for catering. The other facilities includes toilets and lots of storage room too.
Nina Jolly (the organiser) would welcome any enquiries to this effect, The hope is to build on the Fayre idea year-on-year, and also to host a craft show, with demonstrations, local photography, needlework, etc., early in 2012. These future events hopefully will start to raise a little revenue, which can be ploughed back into improving the centre for the future.

Well Done Under 8s
12 September 2011, 7:22 pm
Our new Under 8s played their first competive game on Sunday. I have been involved with coaching them since day one and went to watch them play and cheer them on. League results prevent us from publishing scores at this level so I can only say that both players and parents enjoyed a very entertaining game. The games were played in the true spirit of the game and hopefully the same happens for the rest of the season .
Under 12 Colts in Amazing Win
25 July 2011, 7:12 pm
On Sunday 17th July 2011 We played in the Beighton Tournament. We were apprehensive about how we were going to get on as we have only had 1 season together as a team and the results haven't really gone our way!
We kicked off at about 10am playing Beighton Falcons in first group match. We set off with amazing team work and energy and won 6-0, the boys were amazing and played as a strong team. Players who hadn't scored before were now scoring and everyone's moral was up!
In our second game we played Whiston where we told the boys that this was the team that we could play in the final, as we had watched them play and win their first game against Maltby who they beat 3-1. Colts went on the pitch and were amazing again even though the weather wasn't on our side and they battled rain and wind! The score ended up 2-0 to us! We were on cloud nine!
Our third game in the group some of the boys were talking and acting like they were in the final and when they went on the pitch they thought they had already won and were tired, we then got badly beaten 6-0 to Maltby, we hadn't got clue what had happened to the brilliant team that we had seen in the previous 2 games! So gutted!
We were still in the final due to our previous great results! We were playing against Maltby in the final, the team that had just beat us 6-0, we had 10 minutes before we went back on the pitch to play in the final. Maltby thought that they had won the game due to our last performance! I spoke to the boys and told them that if they wanted to win this it was only them that could do it! They went on the pitch and they were brilliant, the team that had made us all so proud were back and in the first 5 minutes we scored and then 1 minute later Maltby scored, the boys heads never went down and they didnt give up, we went into half time 1-1. There was about 3 minutes left of the game and Joshua Dixon scored the winner!!!
We won the tournament and it showed how much character this team has to have lost 6-0 to Maltby and then to go back on the pitch 10 minutes later and win 2-1 in the final!
This is their first trophy win as a team and mine as a Manager and I couldn't be more proud! Well done lads
Report by proud Manager John Dixon

Sponsored Walk
25 April 2011, 9:52 pm
Sunday 15th May is the date for our main fundraiser
The Annual Sponsored Walk.
Walk starts at 11am from Ecclesfield School Car park
This is a chance for everyone to help raise funds for the club which in turns helps us to try and keep subscriptions as low as possible.
Half of all monies raised goes to the club but the other half goes back to the individuals who raised it to help play their own subscriptions.
Paces Visit
11 March 2011, 8:00 pm
Christine Evans (Club Secretary) and Jane MacDonald (Social Co-ordinator) spent an afternoon at the Paces centre recently. This visit was primarily to take the Clubs Christmas Raffle donation up to them. We were met by the Headteacher and his wife with another two staff members and four pupils.
The school has a total of 34 pupils, ranging in age from Nursery up to Y11, and has recently had a huge section of the old High Green premises refurbished, which we were kindly shown around. Each large, airy classroom contains a small kitchen in one corner enabling pupils to learn the basics of catering for themselves. Although our donation of £300.00 was greatly appreciated the school is still in need of vital equipment such as Fridges/Freezers and Cookers as well as wall cupboards for storage. They have now been in operation in the Sheffield area for 10 years, and have made great advances for the children in their care but funds have now dried up. If anyone within our Club has contacts who may be able to help in any way to finish this much needed refurb just get in touch with either Christine or Jane and we will pass the information over to Paces.
